At the Deters Lab, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other brain aging related conditions and disorders. Our community engagement initiative is an integral part of our mission to conduct research and design projects grounded in the needs of the community.
What We Do
- Research: Our team is actively working to better understand how dementia and Alzheimer’s disease impacts racialized communities. Through cutting-edge research, we aim to identify how Black patients are affected differently by brain aging and cognitive decline, and ways to reduce the racial disparities and impacts of Alzheimer’s and related brain disorders.
- Community Engagement: We believe community is the key. Through workshops, seminars, and events, we partner with other community-based organizations and initiatives for education, connection, and support.
- Resources: We are excited to offer resources to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
